About the Episode
Look who we found! We’ve unearthed Shane-Jahi Jackson, a self-taught visual artist, painter, luthier and overall Renaissance man. Hidden from view, he exerts his craft to add beauty, art and deep joy to those who have the privilege of seeing his vibrant and moving paintings that depict Black bodies as “containers of stories” and music derived from the bass guitars he fabricates. Born in Denver in 1987, Chicagoland and Illinois has been his home for the past three decades.


About the Guest
Shane-Jahi Jackson was born in Denver, Colorado in 1987. He is a self-taught artist and has exhibited in the Midwest at various venues including the University of Chicago, Reva & David Logan Arts Center, Fine Arts Factory, Paintbox Gallery, McLean County Art Center with a recent exhibition at Saint Kate’s Arts Hotel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He has two upcoming 2025 solo exhibitions at the Alliance Francaise de Chicago and Epiphany Center for the Arts in Chicago. He lives and works in Morris, Illinois. Visit shanejahiart.com
